My talents of playing the game of Hide & Seek in Oxford are getting better it seems!
This lunchtime, I was in Cornmarket Street in the City Centre... from 12pm to 1.30pm.
This is how I spent my time:
*On arrival got approached by two guys who work for Phones 4U asking me if I needed a new one, to which I happily responded, I've gotta run...
*Went into HMV, wandered around the music section, humming runaway by the Corrs... went upstairs to the DVDs and decided I could play a fun little prank, on the girl behind the till, Faye. So... wandered around, picked up the following:
Catch me if you can
Runaway Bride
Runaway Vacation
The Running Man...
And went up to unsuspecting Faye, placed them down and said to complete my collection I'm looking for the Bounty Hunter, its urgent I find the bounty hunter... can you point me in the right direction? She said I'll have to take a look and see if we have it... and they didn't... so I left the dvds with her saying, I can't take these then... and ran off down the stairs leaving behind some calling cards (those things that say the FM 107.9 WKD RUNaway was here)!
*Next, I decided to do the same kind of thing in Zavvi.co.uk (formerly Virgin)... so wandered around and picked up a few more apt titles: Prison Break, Running Scared, Runaway Jury, Catch me if you can & Runaway Vaction...
So headed downstairs and spoke to a lovely girl called Alice about the Bounty Hunter... she was saying if I needed it so desperately, as its now been discontinued my best bet is the internet. Awwh... poor Alice...
So thats 4 people so far I've given massive hints to.
*Next stop, Boots. Decide to go in and have a look at everything, take my time, smile at all the staff and think about who's best to approach. Something a RUNaway needs is things to disguise themself, so... what can a RUNaway find in boots which fits the bill - hair dye and face masks... oh and lots of make-up but I could have been there forever considering that! Have a chat to Micah (haircare asst) and Katie (skincare consultant) about face masks, leaving them on for a long period of time and would there be any lasting damage. They notice the many boxes of hair dye and the multi-coloured crazy coloured sprays I have in my basket and think they make a concious effort not to laugh! Thanks girls. Leave the basket by Katies stand, and sprinkle some calling cards in there, and run out the shop... I sware I'm surprised I didn't have security after me, I do look a bit shifty in those scenarios.
*Decide to have a bit of a wander up and down ... so do some walking, talking to random people, the red cross guys and girls telling them how generous I am with my money and how I randomly gave £500 yesterday and this morning, and they didn't cotton on. Silly.
*Then head to Nokia, and ask the manager Angela if they sell Voice Distorters as I need to disguise my voice when talking to people on the phone. She told me to go to a toy shop... hmm. So left a calling card under the Nokia N95 8Gb Black Demo phone they had on the stand.
*Still unhappy that no one has picked up on who I am, I decide to run up and down Cornmarket a couple of times, mainly to keep myself warm! (oh, and because I am the RUNaway afterall!!).
*Then I engage in further conversation with the Phones 4U boys, and poor Ben doesn't pick up on it when I say I'm in Oxford, I'm on the run and playing a game of Hide & Seek, and I reward people when they find me. I think he thought I was a very odd person and it was some kind of weird dodgy line. Interesting.
*Oh, and I sat on the bench outside next and waved at people as they walked past. Talk about being obvious.
Next time, maybe one of you will ask the right person that key thing...Are you the FM107.9 WKD RUNaway?!
Its the one thing that holds the key to you winning lotsa money!!
Good Luck Bounty Hunters!!
